Link Building
Key to the success of any business that intends to tap into the marketing
potential of the Internet is achieving a good ranking in the high traffic search engines. Your site needs to be
ranked well in Google, Yahoo,
Msn. Directory listings are also very important.

Off Page Optimization is the
Most Important Factor For Any Successful SEO and Search Marketing Plan.
Two simple programs I use to keep our clients sites ranking well are...
One Way
Links and 3 Way
Links by Jonathan Leger. There is a monthly fee but when
you factor in the amount of time it would take to build feeder sites on separate domains and web 2.0 sites you
really can beat it. And the most important thing is that they get results!
This is the one constant fact, in the fast paced and ever changing world of doing
business on the Internet.
If you take a look at the popular marketing methods used by on-line businesses to
advertise their products and services you will see the relatively short life span of most of these
methods.

Banner
Advertising: Worked great at first until the public
became used to seeing it and now the click through rates are so low its hardly worth the effort.
Email
Marketing: This marketing method became so abused by
unscrupulous spammers that a whole new industry developed providing the public with "Spam Filters" in an
effort to block all the unsolicited email in our inbox's. Now it is difficult to get your newsletter or ezine
to your subscribers who requested it because of spam filters.
Pop Ups, Pop Under, Pop
Over: Again over used to the point of being annoying. Over
used by marketer's that think they can make a sale simply by not letting get away from their sales page. I guess
the novel idea of providing us with content that would hold our interest never occurred to them as an
option.
Fly-in Ads: Intrusive and Annoying, enough said on this subject.
Link
Exchanges: Even link swapping has fallen prey to the
Internet scam artist.

There is a recent scam that is hurting
legitimate online business people.
As you know, Link
popularity is one important
element to search engine rankings. You search for relevant sites to link to and you get request from other sites
that want to link to yours. Sounds good because link swapping helps all of us
out, if the link being placed on your site is worthwhile to your
customers and has a decent PR.
What I have seen is an ever growing problem with people trying place links on our
site that re-direct our subscribers to one of their affiliate programs that in some cases our subscribers may find
offensive. If the link is on your site people
are going to assume that you endorse it. Yes even if you use a disclaimer to the
contrary!

|
Many sites are now
starting to only accept links (that we have not solicited) only through content such as
articles or endorsements.
The link exchange
will occur through the resource box at the end of the article.
|

Providing free articles remains one of the best ways to promote your business. It
gives you a way to solve problems for people and present yourself as an expert in your field.
At the end of your article you place a link back to your site so if the reader
likes what they have read, they can click on your link and learn more about what your business has to
offer.
This is technique far more effective than just placing your www.yourbusiness.com
on a link page with a hundred other links, because not only can it help you with your page rank and page
reputation, you may actually get some interested traffic!
Because of this new scam by the unscrupulous segment of the Internet, your link
swapping practices may need to become more sophisticated.
Link exchanges still remain very important, just beware of the unsolicited link
request that you receive, and check each one of them out before you link back to them.

I want to dispel a common myth about so
called "Bad Links", before we go any further.
Some people are afraid to except unsolicited links from sites because they think
if a site from a "Bad Neighborhood" links to them, they may get penalized by Google.
This is totally not the case.
You can not get
into any trouble because a site links to your site. You can only run into problems if YOU link to a "Bad
Neighborhood".
So if somebody wants to link to you great, it can't hurt your standing with Google
or Yahoo.
Just use caution linking back to sites. Make it a priory to always checkout any
site BEFORE you link to it!

One of the important factors in ranking high in search engine results is link
popularity. It is not enough to just have the best website in the world, to rank high in the search engines you
need incoming links from other sites, preferably related sites...
Although optimizing your web site is one of the most important task
for benefiting from "Free" unlimited search engine traffic, it also is the most neglected by the majority of home
business on-line merchants.
The work involved in trying to stay on top of all the changes in the way each
search engine ranks the relevancy of the content, keywords, meta tags, description tags, alt tags, and so on and so
forth becomes too overwhelming for most.
Simply put if you can not afford the time it takes to do it right, hire someone to
perform the task for you! Once your site is optimized properly, you can spend your time
on link
building .
