Search Engines and Optimization

Search Engines, Optimizing For Results...

There are hundreds or possibly thousands of "Search Engines" on the web. There are services that offer to submit your site to all or many of these for a fee. The bottom line is, although inclusion in these search engines won't hurt you, there is little evidence that you will benefit from the listings at all.

The good news is there instead of worrying about how or if your site is listed in all the search engines possible, you really only need to concern yourself with two.

Google & Yahoo... in that order.

This whole world of search engine optimization and search engine marketing can be overwhelming to most entrepreneurs.

Lets face it you want to use the Internet to make money maybe start a profitable home business so you can get out of a stuck in a rut job that you hate, or whatever your particular motivation is.

For most of you, I think that it is safe to say, your original intention wasn't to become a Search Engine Geek!

That is understandable but the fact remains, that if you ignore search marketing and optimization your competition will dominate this ineradicably lucrative online marketplace.

rule01

You have two choices when it comes to incorporating search into your online business. Well maybe three!

  • Spend the time to learn how to do it all yourself. This approach is ok if you have a lot of time on your hands and can afford to wait a few years to start making really big money online.

  • Pay an SEO professional to optimize your site for you. If you can afford it I highly recommend taking this option. Your site will be ranked better in the major search engines, (both of them J) which means that you will stand a better chance of making the "Big Bucks". Remember the Internet is The Goose That Laid The Golden Egg, or didn't you read the same $49.00 info products as me?

Then you can, if you want to, take the time to learn how to implement some of the important optimization techniques yourself to save some money down the road. This is a "Learn As You Earn" approach.

  • The third possible option is to do a combination of the first two. This is what I call SEO ala-cart. Click on the link in the menu bar to get a list of SEO ala-cart services that we offer.

rule01

Sorry I digress from the original question...

To Submit Or Not To Submit

Simply put, yes you can submit your site to Google and Yahoo. This is really more for a business owners peace of mind rather than for getting your site ranked high in the search engines.

It doesn't hurt you to submit your site, but there is little evidence that it helps at all.

The key to getting your site listed quickly in Google and Yahoo is to get Google and Yahoo to find your site themselves.

  • How do you do that? Well that sounds like a great subject for another page.
